What are your nonprofit growth goals for this year? Not sure where to begin? Here are my 3 top recommendations.
- Add an annual campaign to your fundraising plan. Research has shown that donors give because they are asked. Is your charity asking? According to Giving USA, about 80% of the dollars given to US nonprofits each year are donated by individuals. If you already have an annual campaign in place, is it time to diversifying your revenue streams?
- Strengthen your board of directors. According to Fundraising Magazine, board members report having a better board service experience when expectations are clearly defined in a Board Expectation document. Does your board use one? Does it include an expectation that board members will donate personally; maybe that your organization will be in the top three charities they support.
- Develop or update a strategic plan. If your organization doesn’t have a strategic plan in place, you may feel adrift. If you have a strategic plan, are your daily tasks in line with the goals outlined in your plan?
